I specialize in helping Health and Wellness businesses distinguish themselves from their competition, build trust and authority, and to help them operate efficiently and scale profitably.
Most practitioners at the intersection of neuroscience, leadership, and human performance know exactly what they do — but struggle to explain it to the patient who needs it most.
That's where I come in.
I'm a ghostwriter with graduate medical and neuroscience training (Emory University), 25+ years of professional writing experience, and a clinical background that includes EMT work, NDLS instruction, and decades of boots-on-ground emergency management experience. I understand the science behind what you do — which means I can translate it without dumbing it down.
I'm originally from Atlanta, GA. The reason I'm called a true Renaissance Man is because I've been blessed with many talents. I see the world as an an artist and as an engineer. I have developed a vast library of skills & abilities, and a wide yet deep breadth of knowledge. I've always been perseverant, and I lead by example, so I believe that's why I've earned so many accomplishments and awards.
And, that's why, over the years, I've been able to offer so many varied services to others, from artistic ventures to technical analysis and solutions.
Nowadays, however, I am focused on medical ghostwriting, specifically to help those in the Health and Wellness industry, and even more specifically, Functional Wellness practitioners.
Of course, I utilize AI to accomplish many of those tasks, because...why not? I never ask AI to "write for me." Instead, I start by asking lots of questions, then, after considering the output, I'll question why something that I happen to know about wasn't included? The result is that the AI will usually have an "epiphone" because I brought up something it hadn't considered, so it'll have to go find it, and reconstruct it's whole reply to my initial questions. It usually opens up a totally new story.
You see, that proves that AIs don't "know" everything!
The end result of all this RESEARCH is that, only after that -- do I start writing. I often use AI to help me organize my thoughts, which is essentially a time saver.
The end result is MY WRITING. MY IDEAS, MY PERSPECTIVES. (After 70 years of a full-life of experience.)
However, when I'm ghostwriting for a client, of course I write about YOUR IDEAS, in YOUR VOICE.
The bottom line is, I use AI as a tool (for research), not a substitute for talent or experience.
I've always believed in "under-promising and over-delivering."
And my mission in life is to help others.
At the heart of it all, what I do best is solve problems. I do that by immersing myself to get a good assessment of how a business is actually working, with an eye on the "bottom line." I compare that to what it needs--that which makes a business successful. Then I use my laser focus to determine what factors are bottlenecks, standing in the way of success.
So every client gets a "custom experience," suited to their needs.
My observations, and conclusions of my analysis are often not obvious, even to the business owner or CEO. Often what I reveal to an owner or CEO is a revelation to them. But--once revealed, the problems become obvious. The next step is an innovative solution.
You see, I learned very early in life the value of self-discipline. While others may have railed against it, I saw it as an asset, and embraced it.
I can say, without any hesitancy, that my whole life has revolved around developing that self-discipline, resiliency, and perseverance that makes me "me."
I truly believe that accounts for my life being so blessed and fulfilling.
In the end, what truly sets me apart, besides my extensive skills and expertise, is my "personal branding," which I have built over the entire course of my life.
This includes my "work ethic"---including my integrity, self-discipline, perseverance, and other traits, that people are gratified to rely on.
I always enjoy helping others, without expecting anything in return.
(The unexpected benefit from that is that people often feel indebted to me, so the "good karma" always comes back around!) 😁
At this point in time, I've chosen to specialize in a core of essential tactics (services I offer) that support the strategy of owning your list of customers. I've identified this strategy as being essential, and especially in need right now, when so many are depending on social media "followers" (which is equivalent to renting your list, at best). OWNing your list is THE most important factor to growing an online presence to the point where your customer base is large enough for your business to be "stable" and lucrative, and to ultimately scale properly.
All the other tactics (services) I offer are built to support that goal.
But, in order to build your list, you first need to build trust and authority, so my services are also designed to accomplish that goal primarily.
Ultimately, I leave you with a list of accomplished goals, and various assets, like a library of "evergreen" topics that have proven themselvew to be successful, and various articles and emails that I have written & published on your behalf, that you can re-use over and over. You can "re-purpose" them any time, in any way you like.
I still reserve time and energy to provide other services where needed. Variety is essential for creativity to flourish!
The best way to start out is with a consultation. Why?
See the section "No Two Practices Are in the Same Place" at the top of the Services page.It explains why a consultation is the best way to start, so I can adjust my approach to your specific needs.
People say I excel at translating "techno-speak" concepts into "regular, everyday knowledge and terminology" that anyone can understand. Because of my ideas, humorous anecdotes and encouraging, positive approach, I'm often asked to speak to various groups.
As an artist, I used to draw entirely freehand, but now I utilize computer programs and even AI to create images. I enjoy writing and playing music, especially on my guitars, plus painting and woodworking when the need or inspiration hits.
Photography is a lifelong pursuit that I got from my dad, a professional Medical Photographer. People say that I "capture a unique perspective" of scenes. I have even sold prints of some of my photos over the years.
I am an FAA-Certified & Licensed drone pilot, and I have used this skill with aerial videography to serve survivors of a hurricane and the US Army Corps of Engineers.
I enjoy developing designs in electronics, often with analog sensors and microcontrollers, especially in automation and robotics fields. I started learning this skill in 1985 while I worked in medical research, when I had to automate experiments and build specialized amplifiers for biosignals.
I currently reside in South Carolina with my wife, Brenda. I like to call myself a musician, and I enjoy expressing myself with my guitar whenever possible. As an FCC licensed Extra-class Amateur Radio Operator (AI4RV), I also volunteer my knowledge, skills and abilities when needed for public events, emergency operations, and just plain fun & mentoring.
Over the years, I've had many hobbies, from backpacking to SCUBA, jumping from tree to tree (like a squirrel), and all manner of crafts. I have to limit myself now to more sedentary activities. I enjoy time with family and friends. I always enjoy the company of my critters, too. Especially our cats, and previosly our bird, Tiki (RIP). When space is not a limitation, maybe we'll have some dogs again!

(Even after Randy moved outside as an adolescent, he kept a small bird as a 'best friend.' He made friends with a wren who followed him everywhere.)
